Matrubhasha Olympiad

The word Olympiad is well-known today, as it refers to the 'Olympic Games', a quadrennial event of physical fitness with a noble mission of fostering global fraternity. The word 'Olympic' has become a universal term because of these splendid games. Recently, international contests of knowledge have also been held under the name of Olympiad. The Gujarati language olympiad was conceived as a way to use this opportunity and to easily engage the new generation with the Gujarati language.

Matrubhasha Abhiyan initiated the 'Matrubhasha Olympiad' on February 21, 2013 at Naroli Primary School and now more than 500 schools are participating in the Gujarati Language Olympiad. Various competitions related to Gujarati language are held at different places in Gujarat, such as 'My Favorite Book Talk', Eloquence, Writing, Poetry Recitation, Word Completion, Rapid Poetry-Writing, Rapid Essay-Writing, Issue Story Writing, Word Search Competition, Gujarati Vocabulary Competition, Antakshari games and more. Other competitions like melodious music, garbo, folk dance, drama, monologue etc. are also organized. The winners of each competition are rewarded with prizes.

The main objective of Matrubhasha Abhiyan is to cultivate special interest and love for Gujarati language and its associated culture among the students and these competitions are very helpful in making Gujarati language education fun and quality.
