About Matrubhasha Abhiyan

Learn About Us, Our Purpose, Our Goal...

Gujarati language is a reflection of Gujarat's rich cultural and historical heritage that spans over a thousand years, but in the modern times, the role of Gujarati language in education, administration and practice in Gujarat is diminishing and the influence of English language is growing. Moreover, Gujarati language, culture and tradition are being neglected by the audio-visual media (TV-Radio-etc.) due to the impact of Western culture and the widespread social acceptance of Western languages. As a result of these factors, we are losing our true identity, consciously or unconsciously.

Matrbhasha Abhiyan is an organization that was founded in the year 2012 to bring together Gujarati language lovers and organizations who want to do something for Gujarati language, to preserve and promote Gujarati language and to create a network among them. The organization has a multi-centred uni-level and informal structure. It is a registered Public Trust (No. E/20392/A'wad).

Matrubhasha Abhiyan organizes various programs to promote Gujarati language, such as Pustak Parab, Gothdi, Paraspar, Granthmandir, Dada-Dadi No Otalo and more. The main goal of these programs is to inspire respect and love for Gujarati language in the society, especially among the youth, and to create a sense of pride and awareness of Gujarati language. The organization also aims to reach out to Gujaratis all over the world and offer them different forms of Gujarati language and literature through a single platform, to use technology to deliver quality Gujarati programs to every Gujarati, and to connect the lovers of Gujarati literature and culture together.
