Dada-Dadi No Otalo

Fun with knowledge for kids

The first 'Dada-Dadi No Otalo' of the Matrubhasha Abhiyan was held on 21 February 2016, where children learned from the stories and songs of the elders (grandparents) in a fun way. Today, the 'Dada-Dadi No Otalo' is successfully running in 10 locations, where elders (grandparents) share their knowledge and experience to the children in the Gujarati language and share informtion about their culture.

Dada-Dadi No Otalo is a project that aims to connect the old and the new generations through the Gujarati language and culture. It allows the children to learn from the wisdom and experience of the grandparents, to feel their emotions and values, and to preserve the traditional and forgotten legacies and heritage through the art-skills of the grandparents. It also prepares the young generation to pass on the higher culture and knowledge and skills to their future children as parents.

Dada-Dadi No Otalo involves various activities such as storytelling and poetry recitation, creating stories from pictures or sentences, singing children's songs, learning Gujarati rhymes, riddles, proverbs, plays, games, elocution, comprehension through puppetry, nature introduction, best from waste, paper work, kitchen recipes, medicinal knowledge, family problems and cultural traditions.

Grandparents, You can also participate in the Dada-Dadi No Otalo, where you can share your knowledge and entertain the kids, assist the grandparents, or visit the Dada-Dadi No Otalo with your kids and enjoy the activities.

Vali No Chotaro: Vali No Chotaro is a project that complements Dada-Dadi No Otalo, where experienced elders (Grandparents) have open and honest conversations with the parents of today's generation, who are often busy and separated from their families. The grandparents share their wisdom and advice with the parents and help them resolve their confusions and questions. Vali No Chotaro is a platform where parents can learn from the grandparents and benefit from their insights.

Bal Pustak Parab: Bal Book Parab is a project that is organized along with Dada-Dadi No Otalo, with the aim of encouraging children to read books of their choice. The project believes that if a child reads a book that they like, they will develop a habit of reading and enjoy it.
